Get Involved With One Of Our programs and make a difference

The Toms River Elks are very involved in the local community.

The lodge is committed to supporting the youths within our community. We provides scholarships, sponsors local Boy Scouts, and hosts hoop shoots. We encourage civic and patriotic involvement through essay contests.

Read about our lodge’s committees below.

Drug Awareness

The Drug Awareness Committee is charged with implementing the Drug Awareness Program of the Lodge, the State Association and the Grand Lodge.

special childrens

The “Special Children’s Committee” continues to work with compassion and dedication to service programs that we provide for Special Needs Children and Adults.

Veterans committee

Elks pledge “So long as there are veterans, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will never forget them.” The Elks National Veterans Service Commission takes that pledge one step further, and promises service to our nation’s veterans and military members, with a special focus on service to those in need.

Other Committees

Americanism Committee

The ambition and goal of the Americanism Committee is to quicken the spirit of American patriotism and to stimulate an awareness — a genuine feeling of pride and respect toward patriotism — so that we as Members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks will become constant reminders to the people of our Nation that America truly means freedom and that ELKS CARE and ELKS SHARE. The Committees on Americanism — Grand Lodge, State and Local — are charged with implementing the patriotic activities of the Order and its Subordinate Lodges. Each Lodge should take part in as many of these programs as possible in order to accomplish a diversified impact for Americanism in their area. One popular program is the annual Essay Contest geared towards 5th – 8th grade students in order to promote patriotism among young people.

Elks National Foundation Committee

The Elks National Foundation Committee shall publicize the Elks National Foundation, promote its programs, activities and charities, encourage and solicit contributions and recognize all gifts made to the Foundation. The Committee shall have no jurisdiction over the scholarship contests or other activities sponsored by the Foundation Trustees.

Government Relations Committee

The Government Relations Committee is necessary to help maintain our status as a nonprofit, taxexempt, and charitable organization. The Government Relations Chairperson lets members know there is a volunteer sheet and explains the importance of logging volunteer hours. In short, volunteer hours means money for our lodge.

The Government Relations Chairperson should establish relationships with local legislators and provides them charitable statistics concerning various Elks activities. The Government Relations Chairperson should also encourage members to contact legislators on key issues.

House Committee

The House Committee is comprised of Members appointed by the Exalted Ruler to establish, update and execute the rules of the lodge.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is a very important committee. This committee committee helps our organization grow and thrive. One of the most important things that the Membership Committee does is to help educate potential new members and introduce them to the Elks, through conversation and through informational packets. This may involve speaking with people who express interest in joining to the Elks. The Membership Committee may also attend lodge and community events as a part of the recruitment process. The Membership Committee is involved in the earliest communications with potential new members and works with others to make a candidate’s application through Investigations, Orientation and Indoctrination seamless and timely. Membership also helps with Retention.

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee is charged with implementing the Public Relations Program of the Lodge, its State Association and the Grand Lodge.

Scholarships Committee

The scholarship committee provides opportunities to the children and grandchildren of our Lodge members and to students from the community.

Youth Activities Committee

The Youth Activities Committee shall prepare, supervise and conduct programs for the youth of the community, and have charge, supervision and responsibility for all youth programs of the Lodge, and matters referred to the Lodge by its State Association and the Grand Lodge Youth Activities Committee.
